and we live and cruise full-time aboard our 1996 Shannon 43 Ketch, S/V Altair with our two cats, Heidi and Oliver. Ian is originally from northern New Jersey while Hanna hails from the Gulf Coast of Florida. We met as freshmen at Georgetown University and have been together since. We got the crazy idea to live aboard a boat and spent five years living on a Marine Trader trawler. After cruising the Chesapeake extensively we realized the limitations of that boat and decided we needed to switch to a sailboat for travelling farther afield. We found our boat, Altair, in Deltaville, VA and had an extensive refit done before bringing her back to DC. After two years of sailing Altair on the Potomac and Chesapeake we decided to sell our business and head south down to Florida with plans to head to the Caribbean from there.
